Thomas Tuchel says no no no, Chelsea don't need to sign a midfielder or striker

The idea that Chelsea must bring in a new striker or a midfielder to Stamford Bridge before the transfer market ends has been shot down by their head coach Thomas Tuchel.Thomas Tuchel says no no no, Chelsea don't need to sign a midfielder or striker

After three games, the Blues’ demoralizing 3-0 loss to Leeds at Elland Road dropped Tuchel’s team into the bottom half of the Premier League standings.

The game against Leeds United was Thomas Tuchel’s 60th Premier League match; Chelsea conceded just 17 goals in the first 30 of these, but have shipped exactly twice as many in the last 30 (34).

Tuchel made use of Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount on the flanks while Kai Havertz served as Chelsea’s false nine in an attacking three formation, but they failed woefully and were unsuccessful in scoring once more.

Tuchel responded with a “No, no,” when asked if the outcome of the game against Leeds demonstrated the necessity of strengthening in the forward zones.

Chelsea fans won’t be happy with this one, since the club is already linked to two Barcelona players – Aubameyang and Frankie De Jong and Everton youngster as well – Anthony Gordon.

Partnering Jorginho in midfield in the heavy defeat was Conor Gallagher, who received his first Chelsea start, but the Italian and the Englishman did not perform well as both of them were later substituted by Tuchel.

When asked if the Blues will attempt to add to their midfield depth before the transfer market closed, Tuchel responded that his team is well-stocked.

I’m sure Chelsea fans would pretend they didn’t hear him correctly πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

πŸ—£ “Another midfielder? We have Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, we have Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher, Mateo Kovacic. They [Kovacic and Kante] are injured, yes, it’s a problem. But they will come back. They’ve not disappeared.” – Tuchel said.

Leeds had run 11 kilometers (km) more than Chelsea at one point in the second half. Tuchel, though, downplayed the notion that the Blues did not equal their hosts’ effort.

We scored an own goal and gave an awfully cheap set-piece away and conceded from it,” added the German. This has nothing to do with pressing, running less kilometres, nothing to do with the style of Leeds. We should not confuse these things. We were able to cope with the style, able to be the better team, able to be one or two goals ahead, but we give an own goal away and the set-piece has nothing to do with anything.” – he said.

Tuchel added that;

From there it’s 2-0 and the belief for Leeds is on top level and our body language, even in the ten minutes before, was not what it was like in the last match.”
