Former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger, Eden Hazard, recently revealed the reasons why he suddenly retired from professional football at the age of 32.
The Belgian concluded his illustrious 15-year career after departing from Real Madrid in the summer, where he had faced persistent injury challenges, Footballrover reports
During his seven-year tenure at Chelsea from 2012 to 2019, Hazard showcased his brilliance by scoring 110 goals and contributing 92 assists in 352 games across various competitions for the Blues.
He secured two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, the FA Cup, and the League Cup with Chelsea before making the transition to La Liga.
While his move to Real Madrid was a lifelong dream fulfilled, he collected eight trophies, including the Champions League and two La Liga titles.
Unfortunately, his time in Spain was marred by recurring injuries, including a debilitating fracture in his right foot during his initial season, coinciding with a decline in his performance.
Hazard candidly admitted that his desire for playing football had waned, ultimately influencing his decision to retire.
In his conversation with a French outlet L’Avenir (via EuroFoot), he explained that he had always stated his intention to step away from the game when it ceased to be enjoyable on the field.

He admitted that his decision was not driven by the pursuit of money alone but rather by a loss of joy in training and a diminishing pleasure in playing.
“I always maintained that I would step away from the game once it ceased to be enjoyable on the field. I had no intention of pursuing money alone. I had lost the joy of training and, subsequently, no longer found pleasure in playing. The decision was straightforward,” Hazard explained.
