Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi continued his return to form with a clinical first-half goal, but his effort could not prevent OGC Nice from suffering a 4-1 defeat to Brest in their Ligue 1 clash.
Despite his sharp finishing, Francesco Farioli’s side struggled to contain the hosts, who ran away with a convincing victory, Footballrover reports.
Terem Moffi Keeps Scoring Form Alive for Nice
The 26-year-old striker has now scored twice in seven league appearances this season, adding to the match-winning strike he netted in Nice’s 3-1 triumph over Auxerre in August.
It marks a promising return for Moffi, who endured a frustrating 2023/24 campaign, limited to just five games and a single goal due to injury setbacks.
Despite Nice’s 4-1 defeat to Brest, Moffi once again showed he still got the fire burning with a clinical first-half strike.
With his side two goals down after a blistering start from Brest, it was Moffi who gave Nice a lifeline in the 30th minute. Latching onto Hicham Boudaoui’s perfectly weighted lofted pass.
The Nigerian forward showed great composure, cushioning the ball with his first touch before calmly slotting it beyond Grégoire Coudert.
It was a typically ice-cool finish from a striker who continues to sharpen his instincts in France’s top flight.
Brest’s Ruthless Edge Seals the Contest
Moffi’s goal not only showed his movement and finishing but also highlighted his ability to change the momentum of a game when his team needs it most.
For a brief spell, his strike shifted the balance, suggesting Nice could mount a comeback after going into the break trailing just 2-1.
Unfortunately for Francesco Farioli’s men, Brest found another gear after halftime, piling on two more goals to seal a convincing win.
Still, in a difficult night for Nice, Moffi stood tall and will hope to help Nice bounce back from the heavy defeat as they approach their UEFA Europa League opener against Roma, burdened by a third loss in five league outings.
