Super Eagles star Terem Moffi made a stunning return to the scoresheet on Saturday evening, registering his first goal against Brest to inspire OGC Nice to a crushing 6-0 Ligue 1 win.
It was a huge moment for the Nigerian striker, who had endured a long and difficult recovery from injury, Footballrover reports.
Terem Moffi’s first goal of the season ends long wait
The Terem Moffi goal against Brest wasn’t just another strike—it marked the end of a 389-day goal drought.
Having missed a major chunk of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, the Nigerian international had struggled for game time since his return.
He had gone five games without a goal this campaign until Saturday’s breakthrough.
Coming off the bench in the 78th minute at the Allianz Riviera, Moffi replaced Evann Guessand shortly after Gaëtan Laborde netted the fourth goal for Nice.
Just five minutes later, Moffi latched onto a pass from Sofiane Diop, calmly rounded the goalkeeper, and slotted home Nice’s fifth goal of the evening.
It was his first goal of the season and his first contribution since returning to full fitness—a moment that showed flashes of the old Terem Moffi that fans came to admire.
Champions League bound: Moffi’s strike seals the deal
Les Aiglons dominated from start to finish, with first-half goals from Evann Guessand, Gaëtan Laborde, and Badredine Bouanani setting the tone.
Moffi’s contribution, along with a stoppage-time goal from Ali Abdi, sealed a commanding 6-0 result—Nice’s biggest win of the season.
The win also secured a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1, a Champions League qualification spot, making Terem Moffi’s goal against Brest even more significant.
Now in his third season at Nice, Moffi has netted 18 goals and provided five assists in 51 appearances.
His first season saw him deliver six goals in just 16 games, followed by 11 goals and two assists in his second.
However, this campaign has been a challenging one, making Saturday’s goal even more emotional for the Nigerian forward.
