Falconets star Taiwo Lawal has officially joined Turkish Women’s League side Atasehir Belediyespor.
Lawal joined the Turkish team on a two-year deal from the Lagos-based women’s football team, Robo Queens.
Taiwo Lawal, who personally announced her transfer to the Turkish Women’s team today on her Twitter handle, expressed excitement for joining the team.
“I’m happy to announce my official move to Atasehir Belediyespor in the Turkish Super Lig. I am so excited to continue my next phase of career in Turkey,” she wrote.
Taiwo Lawal was a member of the Christopher Danjuma-coached U-20 women’s football team that represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s Football World Cup hosted by Costa Rica in 2022.
She has also penned an emotional farewell message to her former club, Robo Queens, on her X handle.
“I want to appreciate FC Robo Queens for the moments we had together. I learnt a lot at the club, and I wish them well in their future endeavors. We had great memories together, but those memories will linger on,” she wrote.
She added that;
“My exciting moments at Robo Queens include winning the 2021 Flying Officer’s Cup in Abuja, where I was voted MVP of the tournament, and winning the 2022 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, where I won the highest goal scorer award.”
The former Robo Queens star stressed that;
“My appreciation goes to the club backroom staff and technical crew for the lessons learnt at the club. I wish Robo Queens all the best ahead as I forge ahead in my career at Atasehir Belediyespor.”
