By winning their fifth straight league game, courtesy of a brace from Paul Onuachu, Genk stretched the gap between them and Royal Antwerp at the top of Belgian league.
Super Eagles attacker Paul Onuachu found the net twice on Tuesday night as KRC Genk easily cruised past KVC Westerlo with a 6-1 scoreline to strengthen their dominance at the top of the standings.
Before the interval in the Jupiler Pro League, the home side scored five goals against a Westerlo club that played for more than 30 minutes with 10 men as a result of Nene Dorgeles’ red card.
Following an away win at OH Leuven and Royal Antwerp’s failure to beat Standard Liege, Genk found themselves as the league’s leader on the last matchday.
On Tuesday night, the visitors had the first opportunity to grab the lead, but Lyle Foster was unable to get things started.
Soon after, Joseph Paintsil, Ghanaian forward received the ball from Bryan Heynen and he promptly scored Genk’s opening goal.
A close-range goal by Daniel Munoz gave Genk their second after fifteen minutes, but Westerlo still managed to score six minutes later from the penalty spot.
The third goal was produced thereafter through a great teamwork between Paintsil and Onuachu. In less than eight minutes, the Nigerian international scored his fifth goal of the campaign, followed by his second of the evening and sixth of the season from the penalty spot.
Just before halftime, Munoz added his own brace with Paintsil’s assistance.
The second half appeared absolutely superfluous given the score from the first, and things only got much worse Westerlo in the 58th minute when Dorgeles was given a marching order.

The visitors then tried to play for more than 30 minutes with ten men without giving up more goals, but failed as Patrik Hrosovsky’s found the net yet again for Genk to make the final score 6-1.
