Luton Town’s return to winning ways in the Championship came in dramatic fashion as Super Eagles hopeful Elijah Adebayo secured a 2-1 victory over Stoke City at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday.
The Nigerian forward, who has now scored in his third straight game, delivered a stoppage-time winner to cap off a hard-fought encounter, footballrover reports.
Adebayo’s heroics and third straight goal
The match began with Stoke City drawing first blood in the 6th minute, courtesy of Tom Cannon’s clinical counter-attack finish.
Luton Town responded swiftly, levelling the game through Carlton Morris in the 26th minute after a well-worked corner.
With the scores locked at 1-1, Adebayo rose to the occasion once again, converting Tom Krauss’ initial volley in the dying moments.
The 26-year-old Nigerian forward’s decisive goal marked his third in as many matches, following strikes against Norwich and Swansea.
Victor Moses’ standout performance
Complementing Adebayo’s brilliance was Victor Moses, who also displayed his experience and versatility throughout the game.
The former Chelsea winger contributed significantly to Luton’s defensive stability, winning 60% of his ground duels while recording six clearances and nine recoveries.
His presence helped ensure Luton maintained control in key moments against a determined Stoke City side.
A victory that revitalises Luton Town
This win marked Luton Town’s first in three matches, a much-needed boost for Rob Edwards’ team.
The Hatters’ resurgence saw them climb from 18th to 14th in the league standings, while Stoke City fell to 17th.
Adebayo, with five goals in 21 appearances this season, appears to be rediscovering the form that made him a standout in last season’s Premier League campaign.
Elijah Adebayo’s third straight game with a goal reinforces and strengthens his case for a potential Super Eagles call-up.
