The Pirates entered the game riding on the back of two back-to-back winsā€”a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Jwaneng Galaxy in the CAF Champions League qualifiers and a 2-1 triumph over Chippa United in their league opener, Footballrover reports.

However, it took them a while to get going in this encounter, with the first half ending in a goalless stalemate at Orlando Stadium.

After a tight first half, the Buccaneers came out flying in the second, and Monnapule Saleng broke the deadlock just ten minutes after the restart, igniting the Piratesā€™ attacking engine.

As Polokwane City struggled to regroup, Evidence Makgopa stepped up, adding a second goal five minutes from full-time.

He wasnā€™t finished there, netting his brace deep into stoppage time to complete a commanding win for the home side.

With the Pirates firing on all cylinders in attack, Olisa Ndah anchored the defence with authority.

Despite being subbed off in the 84th minute for Nkosinathi Sibisi, the 26-year-old Nigerian defenderā€™s contribution was unmistakable.

He controlled the backline with precision, racking up 61 touches and delivering 39 accurate passes while making crucial defensive interventionsā€”five clearances, four headed clearances, two recoveries, and winning three aerial duels.

The victory extended the Piratesā€™ unbeaten run across all competitions, cementing their place at the top of the league alongside Mamelodi Sundowns.
