In a bold statement, Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has declared that his team will take the necessary risks to secure a win against Benin Republic in their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier.
Finidi’s comments come after a disappointing 1-1 draw against South Africa on Friday, which saw the team struggle in the first half before equalising in the second, Footballrover reports.
Finidi fired a shot at Benin Republic’s coach, Gernot Rohr, saying the Germans should be afraid of the Super Eagles, not the other way around.
Rohr, who previously managed the Super Eagles for six years before his dismissal in 2021, will be looking to use his knowledge of the team to mastermind a defeat for Nigeria.
Despite the draw against South Africa, Finidi remains optimistic about his team’s chances against Benin Republic.
“We want to win the game, and we will take risks to win,” he said.
Finidi believes that if his team can replicate their second-half performance against South Africa, they will come away with a positive result that will change the narrative.
Looking at this Group C, I can assure you that Finidi George and his Super Eagles Men will qualify.
