Philippe Coutinho is progressively regaining his best form under Steven Gerrard’s tutelage, as the former Liverpool midfielder inspired Aston Villa to a comfortable win over Leeds United on Thursday night.
The 29-year-old scored once more to lead his side to a 3-0 win over Leeds in a Premier League match played away from home.
Leeds struggled to produce anything going forward, so it’s a straightforward win for the visitors in the end.
Gerrard’s team seized the lead 22 minutes into the game when Coutinho scored his fourth goal of the season with a drive from just inside the area that deflected off Struijk and into the net.
No Premier League midfielder has contributed to more goals than Philippe Coutinho since he made his Aston Villa debut (4 goals, 3 assists).

The Whites started the second half much sharper and appeared more dangerous, but the Villans stayed firm and increased their advantage after 65 minutes when Ings found Cash inside the box and hammered past Meslier.
8 minutes later, Chambers capped it off with a superb finish. Mings passed the ball to him, and the centre-back blasted a lovely attempt into the top left corner.
They saw out the last minutes to secure the clean sheet and the victory.
The hosts remain in 16th place, just two points above the relegation zone, after yet another humiliating defeat.
Next week, they’ll face Norwich City in a crucial match at the bottom of the table, and they’ll be anxious for three points to calm their nerves.
The visitors’ remarkable triumph lifts them up to ninth position in the table, and they will aim to make it four league wins in a row when they face West Ham next.
