Cooper, known for his successful tenure at Nottingham Forest, where he secured promotion in his first season, steps into his new role with a clear vision and high expectations, Footballrover reports.

In an open letter to Leicester City supporters, the newly appointed head coach expressed his pride and gratitude for the opportunity to manage the Premier League side.

I am very proud to be joining a club with a rich history, and I want first of all to thank Khun Top for the opportunity to manage Leicester City. I recognise I am joining a group of people who love this club and want the very best for it,” he said.

Cooper acknowledged the club’s rich history and legacy, including their 2016 Premier League title and 2021 FA Cup win.

The former Nottingham Forest boss emphasised his commitment to building on the club’s achievements and uniting players, staff, and fans.

My job will be to build on those achievements and to bring everyone along—players, staff, and fans. Great challenges lie ahead, but I get the feeling that Leicester thrives in these moments. I know we will be ready,” he noted

Cooper recognised the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to adapt to the Premier League level.

To do that, we have to show to our fans that we are ready to adapt to the new level after a season in the championship. I know that my experience will be valuable in helping that evolution, with an excellent group of players working from one of the best training grounds in the world,” he said

Cooper’s vision includes reestablishing Leicester City as an established Premier League club, playing with a style that resonates with the fans, and immersing himself in the community.

A New Chapter Begins

The 44-year-old has been out of work since leaving Forest in December 2023.

His appointment comes after the departure of Enzo Maresca, who left for Chelsea at the start of June.

Maresca’s tenure saw Leicester City return to the Premier League after winning the Championship.

With the new Premier League season approaching, Cooper’s first competitive fixture in charge will be on August 19, when Leicester City host Tottenham.
