New Super Eagles invitee Sodiq Ismail has continued to put out an impressive show, bagging his 13th assist of the season in Remo Stars’ 3-2 loss to Kwara United on Sunday.
This comes just days after being named in the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Footballrover reports.
The 23-year-old right-back, one of two Nigeria Premier Football League players in the squad, has proven coach Finidi George’s trust in him was well-placed.

Despite Remo Stars’ defeat, which dented their chances of winning their first NPFL title, Sodiq Ismail’s fine form continues.
Kwara United stunned Remo Stars with a two-goal lead from Wasiu Alalade and Isaiah Ejeh, compounded by an own goal from Remo Stars’ Ahmed Akinyele in the 85th minute.
However, the Sky Blue Stars mounted a late comeback, starting with Ismail’s crucial assist.
Just three minutes after Akinyele’s own goal, Ismail deftly received a pass and set up Franck Mawuena to score, narrowing the gap.
Dayo Ojo added another in additional time, but Remo Stars fell short, ending the game at 3-2.

Although Remo Stars must have lost the game, Sodiq Ismail’s performance has shown he’s ready for the national team.
This defeat saw Remo Stars drop to third place on the NPFL table, now tied with second-placed Enyimba at 56 points from 33 games and four points behind league leaders Enugu Rangers.
Rangers solidified their lead with a dominant 3-0 victory over Bayelsa United, featuring a brace from former NPFL top scorer Godwin Obaje and a goal from Chiedozie Okorie.
Looking ahead, Ismail and his teammates will aim to bounce back to winning ways when they host Kano Pillars on Saturday.
The match will be crucial for Remo Stars as they strive to regain their footing in the title race.
Sodiq Ismail’s impressive display has surely given coach Finidi George confidence in his selection ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
