Watford FC have officially sacked Rob Edwards as their manager according to statement released by the club.
Rob Edwards was relieved of his duties as Head Coach of Watford FC on Monday afternoon
The Watford Football Club Board commended Rob for all of his efforts since being appointed and wished him and his assistant Richie Kyle, who also left the club, the best of luck in their future coaching and management careers.
Shortly after sacking Rob Edwards, the Hornets quickly confirmed and announced its newly-appointed Head Coach on their twitter page.
After signing an 18-month contract with the Championship side, Slaven Bilić became the 9th manager of Watford since September 2019, in three years — 1115 total days.
The list includes Quique S. Flores, Hayden Mullins, Nigel Pearson, Vladimir Ivić, Xisco Munoz, Claudio Ranieri, Roy Hodgson and then Rob Edwards, who was fired today.
In addition to managing West Ham United in the Premier League, the 54-year-old previously worked as a coach for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia and, most recently, Beijing Guoan in China. He has also managed in his native land – Croatia and in Russia.
Watford owner Gino Pozzo has this to say;
“As with all decisions taken by the Board, I believe this change to be in the best interests of the club. We felt Rob had enough time to show us the identity of his team, however performances haven’t reflected our hopes and ambitions. Now we must move forward, and, in Slaven Bilić, we have secured the services of an experienced coach who has recent experience of promotion to the Premier League.”
