Moses Simon has finally gotten his scoring boots back, grabbing his first league goal of the season in style as Nantes cruised to a 2-0 victory over Auxerre in their Ligue 1 showdown on Sunday.
In just the second match of the season, the Super Eagles star lit up the Stade de la Beaujoire by scoring the opening goal, Footballrover reports.
Although the visiting side enjoyed more ball possession and racking up more goal attempts, the home fans would rather be pleased with the win at the final whistle.

It took just 14 minutes for Simon to make his mark, curling a stunning shot from outside the box into the top right corner.
It was a strike of pure brilliance, giving Nantes a slim but crucial lead heading into halftime.
The drama didn’t stop there. Eight minutes into the second half, Auxerre was reduced to ten men when Ado Onaiwu received a straight red card for a reckless challenge.
Just four minutes later, Nantes thought they had doubled their lead when Sorba Thomas found the back of the net, but VAR said NO, ruling the goal out for offside in the buildup.
Simon, who had been a constant threat throughout the match, was eventually substituted 12 minutes from time, making way for Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed.
But Nantes wasn’t done yet. In the dying moments of stoppage time, Baherba Guirassy put the game to bed with a sensational solo effort.
He danced past defenders before unleashing a powerful shot from the edge of the box, leaving Auxerre’s keeper Donovan Leon rooted to the spot.
Auxerre’s Nigerian defender, Gabriel Osho, also played the full 90 minutes, but it was Simon that stole the spotlight.
