Remo Stars Secure a Convincing Win over Akwa United

At the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Remo Stars clinched a crucial 2-1 victory against Akwa United, thanks to goals from Abayomi Adebayo and Sikiru Alimi, Footballrover reports.

Adebayo opened the scoring in the 39th minute, followed by Alimi converting a penalty in the 45th minute after Sodiq Ismail was brought down in the box by Anthony Anioke’s challenge.

The penalty goal not only ended Alimi’s 12-game goal drought but also marked his 50th goal in the Nigerian Premier League.

Heutchou Gerome managed to pull one back for the visiting team just a minute into the second half, but the Sky Blue Stars held on to secure the victory and maintain their spot in second place with 49 points.

On the other hand, The Promise Keepers find themselves struggling in the relegation zone with 31 points and in 18th place as they continue to fight for survival in the NPFL.

Plateau United Cruises to a Dominant Victory over Doma United

Another exciting NPFL game at the Jos International Stadium saw Plateau United display their dominance with a resounding 4-0 win against Doma United.

David Onovo kicked off the scoring spree in the 20th minute, followed by goals from Barnabas Daniel in the 35th minute, Sunday Anthony in the 47th minute, and Bernard Mundi sealing the deal with a goal in the 90th minute.

Despite a relatively balanced possession, Plateau United dominated the shots on target, registering 16 attempts with 8 on target compared to Doma United’s 6 attempts with 3 on target.

The victory propelled Plateau United to the 5th position in the league table with 47 points, positioning them just four points behind league leader Enugu Rangers.

Meanwhile, Doma United’s struggles continue, as they’ve now conceded 10 goals in their last five NPFL matches, leaving them in a precarious position in the league standings.
