Coach Ogunbote and his troops suffered a one-nil defeat at the Enyimba International Stadium as the Nigerian League got back underway with more thrilling actions, Footballrover reports.

Just right before halftime, Mbaoma Chijioke scored the only goal of the encounter.

First-half goal from the 34-year-old forward proved decisive as Enyimba secured all three points at their home stadium in Aba.

Despite a spirited performance in the second half, the Shooting Stars were unable to find an equaliser in the matchday 20 tie.

Ogunbote acknowledged his team’s shortcomings and believes they deserved at least a point.

Sometimes, you give it your all, but you don’t get the desired result; at worst, we deserve a point from this game,” he said.

Ogunbote continued by attributing his team’s recklessness to the defeat.Shooting Stars Coach Laments Over Narrow Defeat to Enyimba

We were careless with the goal we conceded today; it’s a situation we could have avoided,” he noted.

Looking ahead, Ogunbote remains optimistic about his team’s future, vowing to learn from their mistakes and move forward.

This win marks Enyimba’s second victory over Shooting Stars this season, having won the previous encounter at Lekan Salami Stadium.
