Hull City’s newest recruit, Semi Ajayi, is ready to spill the beans on his exciting move!
The experienced defender, joining on a two-year deal with an option for a third, will officially become a Tiger on July 1st, Footballrover reports.
Semi Ajayi’s championship secrets unlocked
After six impressive years with West Bromwich Albion, the 31-year-old centre-back, who can also excel as a holding midfielder, brings a wealth of Championship experience and a burning desire to succeed at Hull City.
So, what drew this Nigerian international, with 200 Championship appearances and a Premier League stint under his belt, to Hull City?
The Super Eagles star revealed that he was captivated by the club’s ambitious vision. Sporting director Jared Dublin and head of recruitment Martin Hodge painted a picture of a club eager to challenge at the top of the league – a challenge Ajayi eagerly embraces.
He’s not just a player; he’s a leader, bringing “Championship know-how” and invaluable experience to the squad.
“I’m really excited. I spoke to the sporting director and head of recruitment, and they sold me on the vision of the club and the plans for this season. The club wants to challenge at the top end of the league, and that’s where I see myself challenging. When I heard the vision, I couldn’t wait to get involved in the project,” he told the club media.
Why Hull City welcomes Ajayi’s assets
What exactly are these “secret weapons” Semi Ajayi is bringing to the KCOM Stadium?
Beyond his strong aerial presence and comfort on the ball, Ajayi highlights his pace as a key asset that impressed the Hull City management.
“I am comfortable on the ball, good in the air, and my pace is an asset,” he said.
Having played in all top five English divisions and representing Nigeria 43 times, including every minute of their 2023 AFCON final run, Ajayi’s hunger to prove himself again will be a huge boost for the Tigers.
“We all know how tough the Championship is, and I can’t wait to bring some of my experience to the group,” he added.
This signing promises to add vital experience and a winning mentality to the team.
“It’s exciting to have a new challenge now. I’m coming in with a lot of hunger to prove myself again and do as well as I can as a Hull City player,” the Nigerian defender concluded.
