The incredible performance of Rivers United during the 2022 season has been honored at the 9th Award Ceremony of the Nigeria Pitch Awards with a plethora of achievements.
Unexpectedly, Coach Stanley Eguma received the award for Coach of the Year, while Rivers United FC received the award for Team of the YearRivers United FC received the award for Team of the Year (2022).
Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, received the Football Friendly Governor of the Year award for the second time, which served as a public acknowledgement of his dedication, support, and priceless commitments to the growth of football in Nigeria.
On Friday night, the very finest football talents in the nation were honored at the 9th Award Ceremony of the Nigeria Pitch Awards at the Johnwood Hotel in Abuja.

Victor Osimhen, the top scorer for the Super Eagles and the Italian Serie A, and Asisat Oshoala, the best finisher for FC Barcelona Femeni, were honored as the King and Queen of the Field, respectively.
Alex Iwobi, a prominent player for Everton, Calvin Bassey, an Ajax defender, and Francis Uzoho all won honors, winning midfielder of the year, defender of the year, and goalie of the year, respectively.

Seyi Akinwunmi, a former NFF first vice president and the founder of the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation Mini Tournament, took home the Sam Okwaraji Award for dedication to Nigerian football in the other categories.
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo was chosen as the outstanding football pitch of the year, and Lagos State once again won the award for the state with the best grassroots football.
