Stanley Eguma says he expects his squad to be focused and put in solid performance in the remaining twelve Nigeria Professional Football League games, rather than be concerned about their recent losses.
Despite only suffering three defeats this season, the most recent being a 2-1 loss to Kwara United at Ilorin on matchday 26, Rivers United remain in fine form, leading the NPFL log by four points.
As the Nigeria Professional Football League reaches matchday 27, the “Pride of Rivers” will play MFM FC at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday, May 8, 2022, and Coach Eguma insists his team will not underestimate the “Olukoya Boys.”
“We know what happened to us in Ilorin, it was a big setback considering the fact that we were really on course but we have set that behind us and looking forward to a better performance coming up this weekend against MFM. We are looking to bounce back.” – He said.
Coach Eguma claimed that his players are displaying positive signs, are totally motivated, and have a high level of spirit, but that he would not take any team for granted.
“The players are showing good signs, the spirit is high and we are ready to go. We are well motivated and we all know what is at stake. Everybody in the team are all bent on ensuring that we maintain our momentum. For us here in Rivers United, we do not take any team for granted. No team is a pushover, the teams fighting relegation are the most dangerous because the more you neglect them will be at your own peril.” – The coach said.
“We are really prepared to give our best because we know MFM will come and fight the fight of their lives here. They need some points to survive and here in Port Harcourt, they will not hide their feelings about it. We are coming out in full force to ensure that no stone is left unturned in ensuring we get the points at stake.”
