Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma firmly believes his team has not accomplished their goal of winning the Nigeria Professional Football League title yet but will ‘fight to the end’ to win the prestigious trophy.
Since being tipped as title favorites following an away victory over Katsina United on matchday 22, Eguma’s side has slipped, losing three games in a row on the road for the first time this season.
With eight games left to play in the NPFL, the Pride of Rivers are now seven points clear of second-placed – Plateau United after a thrilling match against Dakkada FC at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium Uyo on Saturday.
However, Stanley Eguma believes Plateau United is still a title contender, and that his side’s comeback victory in Uyo demonstrated that they have enough talent in their team to win the crown.

Rivers United will battle Plateau United in a matchday 31 match on Wednesday, June 1 in what may be the league’s title decider, but Coach Eguma is reluctant to put all of his title hopes on that single game.
“We can see the green light at the end of the tunnel and we also believe that it is possible we can do it but for now, it is not yet over. We still have some games to play and you can never predict the scoreline of those games. Plateau United also won heavily so its a sign that it’s not yet over, the title race is still on,” he said.
Adding that;
“We cannot start celebrating now because i believe that a lot of things will happen between now and the end of the season so we cannot relent. It is still not yet over but i think we are the best side who have the chance to grab the title.”
