Rivers United forward – Nyima Nwagua, has earned another feather to his crown after being named My Bori My City Sports Man of the Year 2022.

The award was given in honor of his perseverance on the field of play as well as his contributions to the advancement of sports.

Mr. Smith Barinua, the organizer of the MyBoriMyCity emerging brand, gave the award to Nyima Nwagua shortly after Rivers United defeated Niger Tornadoes 3-0 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday.

At the brief event, Barinua said:

“We considered you a worthy recipient of this award due to your consistency in the field of play and your contributions to sports development in Bori, Ogoni LGA, Rivers State, Nigeria and beyond.”

In response, the powerful forward hailed his Rivers United teammates’ contributions. He also expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon him and swore not to let up on his efforts.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank my teammates and God Almighty for the award given to me and i want to encourage the youths that working hard, praying and believing in yourself can take you to greater heights.”

He added that;

“Also, | want to also tell the youths to shun violence, keep their faith in God and keep pushing, one day it will turn out good for them. | have never seen anyone that trusted in God and he didn’t get what he wanted. Thank you. | appreciate my teammates for the support and everything. Thank you very much.”
