Rivers United drew a crucial match against 10-man Abia Warriors on Thursday afternoon thanks to Uche Onwuansanya’s goal.

After a 1-1 tie over 10-man Abia Warriors at the Okigwe township stadium on Thursday, Rivers United maintained their dreams of climbing to the top of the NPFL standings alive.

After striker Valentine Odoh was sent out for a foul on Temple Emekayi, the Abia Warriors were forced to play 60 minutes without him.

However, inside two minutes of added time, Paul Samson gave the hosts the lead, before Uche Onwuansanya equalized for Rivers United on 49 minutes.

Rivers United are still in second place, one point under Plateau United, with 26 points.

On Sunday, the Pride of Rivers will host Rangers International FC at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
