Rivers United fans may be disappointed as their favorite Port Harcourt team, once again, has to play their CAF Confederation Cup group stage matches at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium
Rivers United FC is gearing up for the 2023/2024 CAF Confederation Cup group stage, and they’ve been given a familiar battleground.
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo will be their new home ground, as confirmed by CAF’s recent announcement on October 10, Footballrover reports
This venue swap may not come as a complete surprise to fans of the Pride of Rivers.
Last season, in the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup, they made great use of the same stadium, reaching the quarterfinals in front of a 30,000-strong crowd.
Coach Stanley Eguma and his squad are no doubt hoping to replicate that success this year.
Rivers United FC, Nigeria’s sole remaining representative in continental competition, will go head-to-head with Club Africain from Tunisia, Dream FC from Ghana, and APC Lobito from Angola in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Stay tuned for thrilling matches and exciting moments as the former NPFL champions takes to the field at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, and aims to make their nation proud once again.
