The state Sole Administrator, Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), did not just praise the team’s success — he splashed a ₦50 million gift to celebrate the champions’ record-breaking feat, Footballrover reports.

Rivers Angels defeated Nasarawa Amazons 4-2 on penalties at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, sealing their 10th FA Cup title.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Ibibia Worika, the Rivers Sole Administrator shared the excitement and pride felt by millions of Rivers people.
Addressing journalists, Worika conveyed Admiral Ibas’s admiration for the girls’ dedication, describing the Jewels of Rivers Federation Cup win as an unmatched achievement that shows the power of teamwork and hard work.
₦50M splash for Rivers Angels after FA Cup comeback win

Before the final kick, the Rivers Sole Administrator had sent words of encouragement and best wishes to the players.
After lifting the trophy, the team was rewarded with a ₦50 million gift — a promise from Admiral Ibas to recognise their incredible effort.
The government also encouraged other Team Rivers athletes who won medals at the 2024 National Sports Festival to stay committed, as their rewards are on the way.

The team’s manager, Mrs Matilda Otuenne, highlighted how the squad’s discipline and hard work paid off once again, adding another star to Rivers Angels’ rich trophy cabinet that now includes Federation Cup wins in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2024, and now, 2025.
