The Bayelsa Queens attacking trio of Abiola Blessing, Evanick Touta, and Igbomalu Chinyere also threatened but were thwarted by the resolute Rivers Angels defence marshalled by goalkeeper Morufa Ademola.
The second half mirrored the first, with both sides cancelling each other out until the introduction of Patience Otobo and Uduak Ubong Peter in the 67th minute.
The substitutions proved decisive as they swung the momentum in favour of the home team.
On her debut for the Rivers Angels, Otobo carved her name on the score sheet with a well-taken goal in the 89th minute, sending the home fans into thrilling cheers and extinguishing Bayelsa Queens’ hopes of snatching a point.

“I feel so happy to have scored the goal that sealed our Super Six ticket. I waited for the attacker to cross the ball, and I was able to score,” she said.
