Despite missing out on the league trophy, Rivers Angels have a reason to celebrate as their star player has been named in the prestigious NWFL Best XI for the 2024/2025 season.

The elite list was unveiled following the thrilling Super Six playoff in Ikenne, where Bayelsa United clinched the championship, Footballrover reports.

While Nasarawa Amazons and Remo Stars Ladies largely dominated the selection, a shining star from the Garden City side has also made the cut, proving their individual brilliance in a highly competitive league.

The standout NWFL Best XI features a strong contingent from the top-performing teams in a 3-4-3 formation.

Nasarawa Amazons boast four players, while Remo Stars Ladies have three representatives. Bayelsa Queens contribute two players, with Edo Queens and Rivers each having one player in this elite selection.

Remo Stars Ladies’ Charlotte Adjei from Ghana earned the title of top goalkeeper, joined by her teammates Ibrahim Hannah in defence and the prolific forward Bolaji Olamide.

Nasarawa Amazons’ impressive season is reflected in the inclusion of defenders Jumoke Alani and Matthias Josephine, dynamic midfielder Joy Igbokwe, and talented playmaker Janet Akekeromowei.

Bayelsa Queens see their defender Blessing Abiola and midfielder Mary Aderemi recognised for their stellar contributions.

Completing the Best XI are Kafayat Mafisere of Edo Queens and the impactful striker Mary Moses from the Jewels of Rivers.
