Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide is back on the scoresheet—and back in style as the exciting winger scored a stunning goal on Sunday afternoon to inspire UD Tenerife to a hard-fought 1-1 away draw against Real Madrid in the Spanish Liga F.
It was a much-needed breakthrough for the Nigerian, who had gone three games without a goal contribution, Footballrover reports.
But when it mattered most, she showed up with a powerful finish that reminded everyone exactly why she’s one of Tenerife’s most dangerous weapons.
Rinsola Babajide breaks the deadlock in style
The 26-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 62nd minute with a thunderous left footed strike, giving Tenerife the lead in a tense match at the Zubieta Facilities.
It marked Rinsola Babajide’s 10th goal of the season and her 14th goal contribution in 28 appearances—proof of her impact throughout the campaign.
Despite losing the most duels in the match (13), Babajide’s resilience paid off.
Her goal initially stunned Real Madrid, who had struggled to contain her pace and movement.
However, just a minute before regulation time, Caroline Hansen netted the equaliser for the hosts, denying Tenerife a famous away victory.
Babajide’s goal against Madrid ends mini drought
It had been a frustrating run for Babajide, who last found the net on March 29 in a 4-0 win over Espanyol—a game where she also registered an assist.
But Sunday’s performance showed she’s not only back in form but also hungry to end the season on a high.
Her goal couldn’t have come at a better time, and after a brief dry spell, she’s returned to goal-scoring form with momentum now on her side.
UD Tenerife remains in 7th place on the Liga F table with 39 points. They now turn their focus to their final match against Real Sociedad, aiming to close the campaign with a three-game unbeaten run.
