WAFCON 2024 winner Rinsola Babajide delivered her first goal contribution of the season to inspire her new team, AS Roma, to a convincing victory over Aktobe Women during the qualifying round single leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

The 27-year-old forward provided the opening goal of the encounter as Roma ladies crushed their opponents 2-0 at the Stadion Prosek on Wednesday evening, Footballrover reports.

Rinsola Babajide’s Key Assist Unlocks the Breakthrough

While Babajide featured for 67 minutes with an assist to her name before being replaced by Emilie Haavi, her compatriot Oladipo Shukurat played the full 90 minutes as the Italians earned the bragging rights heading into the final stage of the qualifiers.

Just when it seemed that both sides would be heading to the tunnel with nothing to separate them, the Nigerian international said no, as she set up her teammate Marta Pandini to deliver the opening goal in the 40th minute.

Only a minute later, Giulia Galli struck again to double their advantage, which was enough to seal Roma’s passage to the next stage.

What’s Next for Babajide and Her Roma Team?

Babajide and her teammates will now prepare to face Sparta Prague in the second round of the qualifying series on August 30.

The Super Falcons forward joined Roma from Costa Adeje Tenerife during the summer transfer window and will be hoping to earn her place in the team as the regular season kicks off in October.

Starting her journey with a crucial assist will no doubt boost her confidence as Roma push further in the Champions League qualifiers.
