Record breaker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has set a new mark in the German Bundesliga after his goal helped Union Berlin to a comfortable victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

In Union Berlin’s 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, the Super Eagles attacker scored his thirteenth league goal of the season.

The 24-year-old got away from his markers to coolly slide home the opener in the 17th minute, assisted by Rani Khedira, with a left-footed drive from the heart of the box to the bottom right corner.

Grischa Prömel, who fired a right-footed shot from outside the box to the top right corner, extended the home side’s lead three minutes later.

Union Berlin came into the second half in search of a third goal but both sides failed to make use of their chances as the Urs Fischer side sealed all three point at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei with the two goals.

Taiwo Awoniyi is the only Union Berlin player in Bundesliga history to record 13 goals in a single season. In his last seven league games, he has four goals.
