Nigerian star Rasheedat Ajibade lit up the Primera Division with a stunning strike and Player of the Match performance, but Atletico Madrid Femenino were frustrated by a 1-1 draw away to Levante Las Planas.
The Super Falcon winger unleashed a right-footed rocket from the centre of the box in the 32nd minute, expertly finishing Xènia Pérez’s through pass to give Atletico the lead, Footballrover reports.
However, Las Planas refused to lie down, battling back with 11 minutes remaining through Anissa Lahmari’s close-range strike following a free-kick.
Despite Ajibade’s performance, who dominated with six duels won and three shots on target in her 86 minutes on the pitch, the draw leaves Atletico languishing in 5th position.
They remain 12 points adrift of league leaders Barcelona.
The result may sting for Atletico, but Ajibade’s individual brilliance was a clear standout.
The 24-year-old, sporting her signature blue hair, has now contributed a vital four goals and two assists in just 14 league appearances.
Her stunning pace and clinical finishing are making her a force to be reckoned with in Spain.
However, both teams will resume their Primera Division campaigns this weekend with another intriguing set of fixtures.
Atletico will be looking to host Levante in a rematch of their weekend clash, while Las Planas travel to UDG Tenerife.
With Ajibade leading the charge, Atletico will be hungry to bounce back and rediscover their winning form, while Las Planas will aim to build on their hard-fought point and climb the table.
