The 25-year-old Nigerian forward was the heartbeat of FC Basel’s stunning 4-0 victory away at FC Zurich in Round 32 of the Swiss Super League.

Philip Otele didn’t just show up—he stole the show with a brilliant brace and a well-timed assist, lifting Basel seven points clear at the top of the table.

Otele opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a clinical finish, setting the tone for a dominant night.

Just before halftime, he turned provider, laying off a perfect pass for Xherdan Shaqiri to double Basel’s lead in the 43rd minute.

After the break, Shaqiri made it 3-0 in the 52nd, before Philip Otele capped off his unforgettable night with his second goal in the 58th minute, assisted by Albian Ajeti.

The win not only saw Basel demolish FC Zurich in emphatic fashion but also continued an impressive run of form for Philip Otele.

Since their defeat to Young Boys, Basel have bounced back with five straight wins, brushing aside Winterthur, Grasshopper, Lugano, and now Zurich.

With Philip Otele leading the charge, Basel are looking increasingly like the team to beat.

The Red and Blue will now shift focus to their upcoming clash against Yverdon, knowing that with the Nigerian in this form, anything is possible.
