Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Group A leaders – Bendel Insurance decided to ridicule Enyimba after their razor-thin victory yesterday, declaring that the people’s elephant has fallen and the outsized animal is currently being devoured by their home supporters.
As funny as it might sound, the giant animal came far away from its land in search of glory, but was eventually humbled and finally feasted on in Benin kingdom.
The powerful gunshot that pierced through the heart of the people’s elephant came just 23 minutes into the game from none other than the NPFL leading goal scorer – Imade Osarenkhoe.
After the final whistle at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, his only goal proved to be the winner that sealed all three points for the Benin Arsenal as the 22-year-old forward now has six goals to his name this campaign .
The NPFL newcomers are seriously not relenting on their superb form this season as they sealed yet another fantastic 1-0 win against a formidable opponent during the weekend.
Both sides came into the contest with huge momentum, having won their previous matches. While Bendel Insurance snatched a 1-0 win against Nasarawa United, Enyimba secured a 2-0 victory over Shooting Stars.
Both teams were hoping to capitalize on their previous successes, but regrettably, the former African Champions were the ones who lost their shooting boots this time around.
The Monday Odigie team, on the other hand, wasted no time in making fun of the former NPFL champions and did so via their social media account.
“It is the fall of the Elephant in Benin and the fans are all feasting on the giant animal with their knives, forks, spoons and plate with liquid of joy.” – Bendel Insurance wrote on Twitter
It's full-time at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
