Nigerian duo, Yusuf Otubanjo and Sani Buhari, delivered a standout performance on Tuesday, each providing an assist in FC Pyunik commanding 2-0 victory over Alashkert.
The win not only secured back-to-back victory for Pyunik but also reinforced their push in the Armenian Premier League, footballrover reports.
Buhari breaks the deadlock; Otubanjo seals the deal
Playing the full 90 minutes, both Otubanjo and Buhari made their presence felt.
The breakthrough came in the 24th minute when 21-year-old Buhari combined brilliantly with Brazilian forward Agdon to set up the opening goal.
The assist gave Pyunik the edge heading into the halftime break and most parts of the second half.
As Alashkert searched for an equaliser, Otubanjo ensured the game was put to bed deep into stoppage time.
In the 98th minute, the 32-year-old forward set up Matas Vareika, who slotted home the decisive goal, securing all three points.
Pyunik back on track after consecutive setbacks
With this victory, Pyunik stroll to victory for the second consecutive game, bouncing back from defeats against Noah and Shirak Gyumri.
The result keeps them in third place in the Armenian Premier League standings with 35 points, though they remain 22 points adrift of league leaders Noah.
Individually, Otubanjo continues his impressive form with 11 goals and three assists in 14 appearances, while Buhari has contributed two goals and two assists in 15 games.
Next up, Pyunik face Ararat-Armenia on Saturday as they aim to extend their winning streak.
