Tonbridge Angels have officially announced the signing of Nigerian forward Oluwabunmi Babajide.

This isn’t just any new player; Bunmi, as he’s widely known, is the talented brother of Super Falcons sensation Rinsola Babajide, and his arrival marks a significant moment for the Angels, Footballrover reports.

Oluwabunmi Babajide: A scoring sensation for the Angels

Last season, Bunmi was turning heads with Hampton and Richmond Borough, but his journey to the Angels began much earlier.

His youth career saw him hone his skills at prestigious clubs like Millwall and Queens Park Rangers.

He then moved through senior football with teams such as Corinthian-Casuals, Waltham Abbey, and Egham Town before making a big step up to Carshalton Athletic.

The 2023/24 season was truly a breakthrough for the 22-year-old. While playing for Carshalton, Oluwabunmi lit up the Isthmian Premier League, netting an impressive 20 goals in just 37 games.

This incredible scoring ability quickly caught the eye of many clubs, including Hampton & Richmond, where he made 20 appearances.

Now, he brings that exciting form and an insatiable hunger for goals directly to Angels.

Angels’ coach Craig Nelson is clearly thrilled with the new addition, describing Bunmi as “electric“.

Nelson highlighted his pace, power, and a natural eye for goal, adding that Bunmi is “a player who’s hungry to kick on.”

The coach believes the Angels can provide the perfect platform for Bunmi to keep developing his game.

His direct, fearless style and infectious energy are exactly what Nelson expects will get fans on their feet.

For Oluwabunmi Babajide, the move to Tonbridge Angels feels like destiny. He expressed his excitement, stating,

“I’m really happy to be joining Tonbridge Angels.” He explained that after speaking with the gaffer, he instantly felt it was “the right place for me to grow and show what I can do.”
