Olanrewaju Kayode’s remarkable consistency continued on Friday as he added yet another goal contribution for Erokspor in their Turkish 1. Lig clash against Genclerbirligi.
Despite the Nigerian striker’s efforts, his team was left frustrated after being held to a 1-1 draw, further dampened by a red card for their goalkeeper, footballrover reports.
Kayode’s performance, however, remains one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing result.
Although Kayode was the standout player, his Nigerian teammate, Peter Etebo, was forced to leave the field with an injury in the first half.
Olanrewaju Kayode extends impressive run with 4th consecutive goal contribution.
Olanrewaju Kayode has displayed an incredible form recently. With his 4th consecutive goal contribution, the forgotten Super Eagles star continues to shine in the Turkish second division.
Prior to this match, Kayode scored the only goal to secure a 1-0 home victory for Erokspor over Adanaspor.
The Nigerian forward also netted the decisive goal in Erokspor’s crucial win over relegation-struggling side Yeni Malatyaspor.
Kayode’s contributions didn’t end there, as he also provided an assist in Erokspor’s comeback to earn a home draw against Boluspor.
And once again, Kayode delivered, scoring another goal to help his side secure a 1-1 draw against Gençlerbirliği away from home.
Just eight minutes into the game, Kayode opened the scoring for Erokspor with a brilliant left-footed strike into the top corner, showing his clinical finishing ability after receiving a pass from the centre half of the pitch.
This goal marked yet another moment of brilliance in a series of impressive performances.
Kayode’s effort not enough to prevent Erokspor’s frustrating draw
Despite Kayode’s early goal, Erokspor’s hopes of securing a win were dashed in the second half. Genclerbirligi equalised in the 75th minute through Amilton’s powerful header.
The match took an unfortunate turn for Erokspor when goalkeeper Ekrem Kilicarslan was sent off for a reckless act after kicking Amilton out of frustration.
The red card destabilised Erokspor, who had been looking to bounce back from their previous 1-1 draw against Boluspor.
Olanrewaju Kayode’s 4th consecutive goal contribution was not enough to secure the three points for his side.
However, his consistent performances have been vital for Erokspor, who remain unbeaten in their last five matches, recording two wins and three draws.
With 31 points, they sit in 13th place on the table and will next face Iğdır FK on Wednesday.
The game against Genclerbirligi may not have gone as planned, but Kayode’s streak of contributions remains a positive highlight for the Nigerian.
