— “In the second part of the season, striker Olamide Adugbe from Nigeria joined the team, who is ready to strengthen the Zalgiris team with her energy and talent!

Congratulations on joining the green and white family, Olamide,” the club wrote on their socials.

Adugbe is expected to make her debut this Sunday in the Baltic Women’s Football League against Saku Sporting, with fans eager to see how she gels with her new teammates in Vilnius.

From Rivers to Vilnius: Adugbe Ready for New Challenge

Adugbe began her career in Nigeria with Rivers Angels, where she honed her scoring instincts.

In September 2024, she made the leap to Europe, signing for Napoli Femminile, where she featured in six matches and made one assist in Italy’s top division.

Seeking more game time, she moved to Serie B side Freedom FC, where her talent flourished—despite minor injury setbacks.

— “I realised that in order to get more playing time, I had to change the environment, so at the beginning of this year I moved to the Freedom W team, which plays in the Serie B championship. I really did well there; I played a lot, I had a great coach and teammates, and the biggest problem was only minor injuries, which prevented me from demonstrating my best qualities. I really hope that there will be no problems with injuries in Vilnius and that I will be able to play at full strength,” the Žalgiris rookie said.

— “At the moment, my biggest desire is to play as much as possible and help the team achieve the highest goals in Lithuania and the Baltic Women’s League. I am a striker; my job is to score goals, so I will try not to disappoint,” she added.
