The Nigerian forward, who has been a bright spark in an otherwise struggling Al-Wehda team, found the net in the Saudi Pro League Matchday 13 clash, but his effort was wasted, footballrover reports.

Ighalo opened the scoring as early as the sixth minute, courtesy of an assist from Craig Goodwin, with the goal validated by VAR.

Despite taking an early lead, Al-Wehda could not hold their ground. Al Akhdoud equalised in the 32nd minute through Christian Bassogog before Ibrahima Kone’s strike turned the game around just four minutes later.

Odion Ighalo, who played the full 90 minutes, worked tirelessly but could not further inspire a comeback for his side.

The defeat marks Al-Wehda’s fourth defeat in five games and continues a troubling run of form for the team.

With just one win in their last seven matches, which includes six defeats, the club now sits 16th in the 18-team league, firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.

Not the result we wanted, but we keep working hard. Tough times don’t last, but tough people do,” Ighalo lamented on his X page.
