The Nigerian female league didn’t just deliver surprising scorelines—it flipped scripts. The NWFL round 13 brought everything, from title tremors to relegation scrambles.
While top sides like Edo Queens finally stumbled, teams like Naija Ratels seized their last shot at survival, Footballrover reports.
And if you ever thought the Super Six race was predictable, this round says otherwise.
Breakdown of events in NWFL round 13
Edo Queens fall in Lafia as Nasarawa keep Super Six dreams alive
Edo Queens’ invincibility finally cracked under the Lafia City Stadium lights, as Nasarawa Amazons snatched a dramatic 1-0 win.
The loss ends the Queens’ 12-match unbeaten run in the Nigerian Female League, despite Coach Moses Aduku rotating heavily after sealing playoff qualification.
A late 89th-minute strike by Janet Akekeromowei sealed the win for Nasarawa, who moved into second place in Group A with 28 points—keeping them firmly in the Super Six conversation.
Naija Ratels reignite the race in Asaba
Naija Ratels delivered a must-win performance against Delta Queens, claiming a 2-0 victory in Asaba.
Goals from Sofiat Bankole and Rita Tsebee ensured the Abuja-based team leapfrogged FC Robo Queens into third in Group A.
With NWFL Round 13 pushing teams to their limits, Ratels now face a decisive final matchday to book their playoff ticket in the Nigerian Female League.
Bayelsa Queens stay perfect, Robo tumble
Bayelsa Queens once again showed why they’re favourites, edging Rivers Angels 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Alaba Obabiyi.
The result extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches and confirmed top spot in Group B.
Meanwhile, FC Robo Queens’ 1-0 defeat to Ibom Angels in Uyo was a significant blow.
Uwah Abasiofon’s 37th-minute strike left Robo needing both a win and favourable results elsewhere to qualify for the Super Six.
Rain drama in Umuahia as Abia Angels’ dream fades
A thrilling encounter between Abia Angels and Remo Stars Ladies ended 2-2, but it wasn’t without interruption.
Wednesday’s downpour forced the game to pause in the 23rd minute due to a waterlogged pitch.
Resuming at 8:30 am Thursday, Bolaji Olamide gave Remo the lead after 35 minutes of gameplay before Mary Lucky levelled the score five minutes before halftime.
Olamide struck again in the 90th to make it 2-1, but Mariam Abdulrasheed salvaged a point at the death for Abia Angels.
The result means Remo Stars Ladies clinch a debut playoff ticket, while Abia’s hopes are dashed.
