Nigerian forward Christian Nwachukwu was the architect of Botev Plovdiv’s away victory over Botev Vratsa in the opening game of the Bulgarian Parva Liga season.
The right-winger provided two assists as the Yellow-Blacks kicked off their new First League campaign on a winning note, a commanding 3-1 victory, Footballrover reports.
The 18-year-old Nigerian, who could only feature for 70 minutes, was instrumental in Plovdiv’s attacking play.
His vision and creativity were all that were needed to set up Martin Sekulic for his double goals.
The match was evenly contested until the 54th minute, when Nwachukwu’s incisive pass set up Martin Sekulic to break the deadlock.
Just three minutes later, the duo combined again, with Nwachukwu once again providing the assist for Sekulic to double the lead.

However, the home side pulled one back two minutes later through Daniel Genov, but it only proved to be a consolation goal as Yanis Karabelyov doubled the lead back for the visitors in the 77th minute to seal the win.
Nwachukwu, who had been instrumental in Botev’s dominance, was replaced by Konstantinos Balogiannis in the 66th minute to a standing ovation.

Despite creating over 14 goal-scoring opportunities, Botev managed only five shots on target.
Joining Nwachukwu on the pitch were fellow Nigerians Ehije Ukaki, who played the full 90 minutes, and Samuel Akere, who contributed 32 minutes to the victory.
The win at the Hristo Botev Stadium sets the tone for Botev Plovdiv’s season as they look to build on this positive start.
