When Ikorodu City announced Nurudeen Aweroro as their interim head coach, the club had already endured a turbulent start to their NPFL campaign.
But behind this fresh appointment is an intriguing story of how Aweroro, once assistant coach, quickly transformed the team’s fortunes, leading them on an unbeaten run that has fans and management hopeful for the future, Footballrover reports.
The sudden departure of former head coach Bright Ozebagbe left the club in disarray, after the team failed to find its footing in Nigeria’s top flight.
After just five games, four losses, and a single draw, frustration forced Ozebagbe to quit. And then comes Nurudeen Aweroro, whose calm yet tactical approach breathed new life into the squad.
Within weeks of taking over, Nurudeen Aweroro led Ikorodu City to their first win of the season with an emphatic victory over Bendel Insurance.
He followed that up with an impressive away draw against Heartland before sealing his authority with a stunning 4-2 win over Lobi Stars.
