The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Board has announced a rescheduling of the kick-off date for the 2023/2024 football season.

This decision has been made in order to synchronize the start of the season for clubs participating in CAF competitions with the rest of the teams.
Additionally, the postponement aims to facilitate the seamless implementation of live streaming arrangements for NPFL matches.
To this effect, the NPFL Board has designated Thursday, August 17, 2023, as the date for the league’s draw ceremony.

The commencement of the 2023/2024 NPFL season has been rescheduled and a lot fans are not happy about this after marking their calendars.
New kick-off date for 2023/2024 NPFL Campaign
The Nigerian League season will now commence on September 8-10th, rather than the previously announced date of August 26th.
This deferment is attributed to the following reasons:
* Ensuring Optimal Functionality of the NPFL Live App:
The NPFL Live App requires further preparation to ensure its readiness for the upcoming month. Rigorous testing of cameras and training sessions are currently underway across various stadia.
* Unification of Continental and Domestic Clubs:
To promote a unified start, continental clubs will initiate the season alongside the remaining 16 clubs.
* Draw Ceremony in Lagos:
The 2023/2024 NPFL season’s draw ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos on Thursday.
* Enhanced Broadcasting Experience:
The NPFL Live App is set to broadcast over 300 games this season in collaboration with the NPFL Board and its partners, promising an enhanced viewing experience.
