Wilfred Ndidi is a serious doubt for Nigeria’s World Cup playoff game against Ghana after tearing his medial ligament in a UEFA Europa Conference League match on Thursday night.
The Super Eagles star was forced out in the 60th minute of Leicester City’s match against Rennes, which is a major setback for the Super Eagles.
Wilfred Ndidi hurt his medial ligament in his knee when making a tackle, according to Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.

The 25-year-old midfielder walked off after he was replaced by Maddison, and the nature of his injury is still to be determined.
Many Nigerians are dissatisfied with this recent development, with many predicting that his absence will have a significant impact on the Super Eagles’ performance against their arch rivals, Ghana.

Ndidi's injury is truly unfortunate & with the World Cup qualifiers fast approaching, this couldn't come at a worse time. His absence will greatly affect the team. Wishing him the speediest of recoveries, hopefully he's back on the pitch sooner than expected & looking fitter.

Time for the Super Eagles to start preparing for life without Ndidi because these injuries before important qualifiers have become a pattern. Not using AFCON to integrate Raphael Onyedika and Alhassan Yusuf was a big mistake

Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman were all in action last night to help the Premier League side seal their spot in the last 8 of the Europa Conference League on goals aggregate.
Ademola Lookman comes off the bench to provide the assist as Leicester City reached the UECL quarterfinals with a hard-fought [2-3] aggregate victory.
