The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced that Enugu will host the 2024 Super 8 Championship, scheduled to take place from May 23–30, 2024.
NNL Chairman George Aluo made the announcement on Monday, expressing gratitude to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Barr. Lloyd Ekwerenmadu, for accepting to host the championship, Footballrover reports.
According to Aluo, the Enugu State Government has promised to provide all necessary logistics for a smooth, successful, and memorable competition.
“I’m happy to announce that the Enugu State Government has graciously accepted to bring the Super 8 to the home of Nigerian football,” he said.
“We at the NNL are grateful to the Governor and the Commissioner of Sports of Enugu State for this kind gesture, and we promise all the participating teams that they will be treated to the best of hospitality the Coal City is noted for, as the Governor has equally promised to make all logistics available for a hitch-free championship,” he concluded.
The Super 8 Championship is an annual event that determines the overall champion of the second-tier league and the teams that will gain promotion to the elite league.
Already, teams like Nasarawa United, Sporting Supreme of Abuja, and Sokoto United have qualified for the championship.
