Brazilian forward – Neymar da Silva Santos can’t wait to get the Champions League ball rolling for Paris Saint-Germain, says he’s ready as the French side take on Juventus at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.
Its their opening game of the 2022/23 campaign and surprisingly, these two European powerhouses haven’t played against each other in any competitive game since Juventus won the 1996 UEFA Super Cup 9-2 on aggregate.
However, a lot has happened ever since, as evident by the fact that PSG’s development have kissed the sky dramatically since being acquired by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011.
The arrival of a super wealthy owner has undoubtedly aided them in their quest to acquire superstar players like Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Lionel Messi.
But the French champs still haven’t won the Champions League; their 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the 2020 title game was the closest they’ve gotten to winning Europe’s top title.
The Parisians were later eliminated by Real Madrid at the last-16 stage of 2021/22 season, despite having a 2-0 aggregate lead with only 30 minutes left at the Bernabeu Stadium.
In that specific game, Karim Benzema was sensational as his quick-fire hat-trick flipped the game around to make sure the French Ligue 1 team collapsed yet again at the top level.

At the other end, Juventus haven’t won Serie A since 2020, expectations are lower this time around. However, their head coach – Massimiliano Allegri will surely be hoping to at least surpass those expectations.
The Serie A giants are still unbeaten after five league games and have only conceded two goals in those matches, putting them two points behind AC Milan and Napoli at the top of the table. They obviously have a strong foundation to build upon when they get to face PSG.
If they really want to stop PSG’s star-performers from causing havoc at Parc des Princes on Tuesday night, their defense will absolutely need to be at its best.
And Neymar is undoubtedly aware of this, judging from the statement on his social media page after he posted his picture with the caption which says that he’s fully prepared for tomorrow’s Champions League action.
