In an impressive pre-season outing earlier today, Nasarawa United secured a 2-0 victory over Lobi Stars at the Lafia City Stadium to level the two-legged friendly series.
This outcome was a sweet revenge for the Solid Miners, who had initially suffered a 2-0 defeat to the same opponents in the first leg just a day earlier in Makurdi, Footballrover reports.
The match was a tightly contested affair with both sides fighting tooth and nail in the first part of the game but there was nothing to separate them heading into the interval.
However, it was Nasarawa United who emerged victorious in the second period courtesy of goals from Ebenezer Adeyemi and Kabiru Balogun.
Adeyemi broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a well-taken finish, before Balogun sealed the deal with a stoppage-time strike.
The win will undoubtedly boost the morale of the Nasarawa United camp as they continue their preparations for the upcoming NPFL season.
While the results of pre-season friendlies may not always be indicative of future performance, the ability to bounce back from defeat and secure a victory is a positive sign for the team.
Both Nasarawa United and Lobi Stars will now turn their attention to the Abuja Unity Pre-season Tournament, which kicks off on August 11.
