The decisive moment came in the 25th minute when Mubarak Hussaini whipped a dangerous cross into the box.

Anas Yusuf, the league’s top scorer, reacted swiftly, slotting the ball into an empty net for his 14th goal of the campaign.

That lone strike was enough for Nasarawa United to claim all three points against Remo Stars in their matchday 26 clash at the Lafia City Stadium.

Despite the visitors’ reputation, they failed to break down Nasarawa United’s resilient defence.

The Solid Miners held firm, securing a crucial victory that lifted them to 17th place with 30 points from 26 matches.

After the match, Nasarawa United coach Salisu Yusuf praised his squad’s determination.

He revealed that they had just two days to prepare due to a packed schedule but still managed to execute their game plan effectively.

Within those few days, I tried to imprint my game plans into the players. We got our goal through a high press. I think the team has great potential to grow,” Yusuf stated.

Acknowledging Remo Stars’ dominance in the league, he pointed out their inability to create clear chances, highlighting his team’s disciplined defensive display.

I am so proud of the boys today against the league leaders. The mandate is to rescue the team from relegation, and I believe that is achievable,” he added.

Nasarawa United will now turn their focus to their next challenge—an away fixture against Abia Warriors on March 2, before hosting Sunshine Stars in Lafia a week later.
