Naija Ratels fought tooth and nail to keep their NWFL title hopes alive—and head coach Samson Keshi believes the best is yet to come.
Following a hard-earned 0-0 draw against Bayelsa Queens at the Bwari Stadium on Wednesday, the Abuja-based club sealed their place in the prestigious Super Six playoff, edging out FC Robo Queens for the final ticket in Group A, Footballrover reports.
The Abuja-based team showed grit and discipline when it mattered most.
With Keshi’s tactical discipline and his players’ commitment, the team kept their composure against a seasoned Bayelsa Queens side to clinch the precious point that ensured qualification.
Naija Ratels beat the odds to enter Super Six
Finishing third in Group A, 9ja Ratels defied expectations and proved they belong among Nigeria’s elite, and the coach was full of praise for his players after the final whistle, acknowledging the uphill task they faced.
“I give my girls hundred percent praise,” Keshi told the club’s media. “Bayelsa Queens are a very good side. I played them almost two to three times now, and I know they are one of the best teams in the country.”
“And for my girls to come out today with a point that surpasses any other team to qualify them for the Super 6 from my zone. So I thank my girls, and I give them praises,” he added.
That single point didn’t just secure a draw—it secured a dream. By edging ahead of FC Robo Queens, Ratels earned their ticket to the Super Six, joining Edo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels, and Remo Stars ladies in the final showdown.
Super 6 playoff: Naija Ratels ready for the big stage
Now, all roads lead to Ikenne, where the Super 6 tournament will unfold at the Remo Stars Stadium from May 8 to 17, 2025.
The round-robin format will test every side’s consistency, as each of the six clubs will play five matches to determine the champion.
For Keshi, the journey isn’t over—it’s just beginning.
”I know the Super 6 is going to be a different ball game,” he said confidently. “But I promise to reach the finals.”
Naija Ratels have the momentum, the belief, and now, a shot at glory.
