Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Enugu Rangers, have secured the signature of promising young wing-back Evans Iyebi Ogbonda.
The 21-year-old defender, who joined the Flying Antelopes on a two-year deal, running until 2026, is already brimming with excitement about his new chapter, Footballrover reports.
Ogbonda expressed his delight at joining the coal city side after an impressive campaign with the Benin Arsenals last season.
“This move is a great one for my career,” he declared, as quoted by Score Nigeria. “I hope to be at my best and break into this strong team that’s already on the ground.”
The Port Harcourt-born defender possesses a strong belief that his new club will be serious contenders across all competitions they participate in next season.
Ogbonda’s arrival adds to Rangers’ busy transfer window, with the club already securing four new signings.
Rising Star with Ambition
Evans Iyebi’s journey in the NPFL began with Ifeanyi Ubah in 2021.
Since then, he has displayed a willingness to learn and grow, garnering valuable experience with short stints at Akwa United and Bendel Insurance before landing his dream move to Enugu Rangers.

While Ogbonna settles in, reports suggest that Rangers aren’t finished in the summer transfer window yet.
Footballrover understands that the club has shown interest in securing the services of Bendel Insurance midfielder Divine Nwachukwu, although negotiations are still in their early stages with the Benin side reluctant to part ways with the player.
More reports emerged regarding potential deals for Enyinnaya Kazie and Victor Sochima from fellow NPFL outfit Rivers United.
