The race to determine the continental representatives for the men’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Champion of U-23 African Cup of Nations kicked off yesterday, Saturday, June 24, 2023, in Morocco.

The host team secured a 2-1 victory over Guinea in the opening match of Group A, which took place at Stade Prince Moulay Abdullah.
Guinea’s Algassime Bah scored an early goal in the first minute of extra time in the first half. However, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli equalized for Morocco in the 67th minute of the second half.

In the seventh minute of extra time in the second half, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli scored another goal, securing a brace for the host team and leading Morocco to a 2-1 victory, earning them three points in the group.
In today’s early match for Group A, which took place on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the same venue, Ghana nearly lost their 3-0 lead. Emmanuel Yeboah scored two goals and provided an assist for the West African side.
After a goalless first half, Ernest Nuamah opened the scoring for Ghana in the 50th minute of the second half with an assist from Emmanuel Yeboah.
Emmanuel Yeboah extended Ghana’s lead to 2-0 in the 75th minute of the second half and completed his brace in the 83rd minute, securing Ghana’s third goal.
In the second minute of injury time, Reich Kokolo reduced the deficit to 1-3 for Congo Republic.
In quick succession (90+3), Yanne Ngatse scored Congo Republic’s second goal, bringing the final score to 3-2 in favor of Ghana.

The first match of Group B took place later this evening between Egypt and Niger Republic at Ibn Batouta Stadium (Grand Stade) in Tangier, Morocco, ending in a goalless draw.
In the second match of Group B, which also took place at the same venue, Emmanuel Essogo gave Gabon an early lead in the second minute of the first half.
However, Mamadou Sangare equalized for Mali in the 20th minute of the first half. Cheickna Doumbia then secured a 2-1 lead for Mali just before the end of the first half (41st minute).

Mali scored a late goal in the second minute of second half extra time through Alhassane Thamboura to seal a 3-1 victory.
