Moises Caicedo, one of the Premier League’s brightest players and a winter transfer target for Chelsea, has now disclosed the club he was close to joining and why he likes them.
The Ecuadorian confessed to The Telegraph that he wanted to join Mikel Arteta’s team and that the reason he likes the Gunners is because they have stars and young promising players.
“I liked them because they have young, talented players & stars but they always have that mindset of wanting more.” – he said.
One of the most sought-after midfielders in the Premier League, Moises Caicedo attracted lots of interest from teams like Arsenal and Liverpool, but its now obvious his heart is with the Gunners.
During the January transfer window, Brighton apparently rebuffed offers up to Ā£70 million from Arsenal, despite the midfielder openly stating his eagerness to join the league leaders.
The 21-year-old eventually decided to stay, and in March he went on to accept a new long-term deal with the Seagulls, although he acknowledged that his aborted January transfer to Arsenal had been difficult for him.
āI was really close to joining Arsenal, so I suffered a lot. – he said.
Caicedo was initially anticipated to get a second offer from Arsenal at the end of the current campaign, while Liverpool is additionally connected with a move as they try to restructure their midfield.
Caicedo battled despite Arsenal’s advances, but he doesn’t think he lost out on the chance to compete at the highest level.
Moises Caicedo, however, is optimistic that he will continue to have opportunities to sign with a Premier League elite club.
āIām sure Iām gonna have many more opportunitiesā. – the player said.
